Thanks for visiting Camilleri Music, a website that features a few examples of my music compositions, projects and curriculum resources.
Just a few humble words...
I was exposed to music at a very young age, travelling around Europe with my father Silvio Camilleri and his 70 piece accordion orchestra. My father came third in the world at 18 years old on the accordion, and was also Al Martino's (for those of you who remember Johnny Fontaine in the God Father) Canadian Music Director. One of my fondest memories was conducting my father's orchestra along with a well known local concert band in Austria at age 7. Needless to say, I ended up joining my father's orchestra at age 13 playing percussion and touring Italy for two months...missed my mom though...actually my mother is a very accomplished pianist as well:) I still gig with my dad, as you can see in the pic.(notice we have the same hair cut). My mother also continues to share her talents with us around family gatherings and the like.
Continuing on in music and my love for drums and composition, I toured and performed and wrote with various bands through out my teen years, eventually ending up graduating from college and then off to University to receive an Honors Music Degree in composition and education, specializing in classical percussion performance and studying from my world class percussion mentors, Roger Flock and Jean Norman Iadeluca.
I mainly write on the guitar and keyboard, producing and recording in my home studio, but continue performing on drums and percussion for musical theater and various groups around the Greater Niagara and Toronto area. I've also been in education for over 20 years now, which sparked the interest in writing music curriculum, releasing my first book Bang a Gong...Let's Create a Song. Bang a Gong recently reached the approved music resource list for The New York State Board of Education, as well as in Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan Canada. It continues to be used on a national level as a primary and/or supplementary music resource.
Watching my two boys excel with their own musical en devours, and spending time with my wife of over 20 years is what I love doing when I'm not consumed with composing, performing, or devising ways to spread the love of music education.
Please feel free to send me a message on my contact page if you are interested in licensing any of my material or want to connect in any way....thanks again..
